WELCOME TO Pharmacology



The Department of Pharmacology is involved in Undergraduate and Post graduate teaching since the inception of this Medical College. The present Department is housed in the Academy Building 4th Floor.

The academic section of the department includes one lecture theatre, 6 demonstration rooms departmental library cum seminar room, Research laboratory, Computer Assisted Laboratory (CAL) and a museum.

Apart from Undergraduate and Post graduate teaching the Department also houses an Adverse Drug Reaction Monitoring Centre under the National Pharmacovigilance Program, PvPI at IPC Ghaziabad. The Department is also involved in regular Prescription audit for both inpatient and outpatient departments of various Departments of this college for Quality Control purposes.

Services 

  1. Faculty members and PG students are involved in patient care services by attending duty at General OPD clinic on every Tuesday as per official duty roster.
  2. Department of Pharmacology runs an Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR) monitoring centre under the aegis of National Phamacovigilance program of India at Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, Gaziabad. Regular reports are being submitted and updated through online portal.
  3. Regular prescription audit is done as per specified proforma provided by the Dept of Health and Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal.

  • Vertical and horizontal integration of topics are done as per CBME curriculum and latest NMC guidelines.
  • Time to time students of phase 2 are involved in short term independent research projects as well as ICMR- STS projects.
  • Students of phase 2 are assigned to prepare and present posters on various topics during their 1 year training period.
  • Third phase students are involved in real time prescription audit and ADR reporting under Pharmacovigilance program of India as part of training under elective subject as per NMC guidelines.
