Department of Nephrology at NRS Medical College was establised in 2000.
 
A Beacon of Comprehensive Care and Academic ExcellenceEstablished in 2016, the Nephrology Department at NRS Medical College has swiftly emerged as a cornerstone of advanced medical care and academic prowess in Kolkata.
 
 From its inception, the department has continuously evolved, offering a spectrum of specialized services and engaging in groundbreaking research, all while fostering a strong sense of community and education.
 
Clinical Services:
The department operates a robust Outpatient Department (OPD), catering to a diverse patient demographic with renal ailments. Alongside routine care, it provides Dialysis services, including state-of-the-art facilities for both Hemodialysis (HD) and Peritoneal Dialysis (PD). With a dedicated Inpatient Service comprising 40 beds, including separate High Dependency and Acute Kidney Injury units, the department ensures comprehensive and specialized care for patients requiring intensive treatment.
 
Research and Academic Excellence:
 
At the heart of the department's mission is its commitment to research and academic advancement. It actively engages in multiple drug trials and academic research projects, contributing significantly to the field of nephrology. The department's faculty, comprised of experienced teaching staff and researchers, not only oversee patient care but also mentor Post-Doctoral Trainees (PDTs), Senior Residents (SRs), house staff, and nursing and technical personnel.

Annually observing World Kidney Day and World Organ Donation Day, it raises awareness about renal health and encourages organ donation. UG Teaching Program

Traininig of dialysis technician & academic sesseion of B.Sc nursing student  runnig.

Dialysis services started in Nilratan Sircar Medical College and Hospital in the year 1993 in the name of S. P Roy Dialysis unit with only four Machines. Then after dialysis services steadily added to other departments also like CCU medicine, CTVS in cardiothoracic, HDU in gynaecology, Paediatric Medicine and in Renal Transplant Unit in Urology O.T. Quality Dialysis service is one of the great feature of the Department.

Nephrology of Nilratan Sircar Medical College and Hospital has been conducting a paramedical training course in the name "Diploma in Dialysis Techniques" since 2012.  More than 150 students have passed out so far from this institute and are working in various government Medical Colleges as well as private Hospitals. The department thus empowers the society by producing skilled dialysis technicians.
