UG Teaching Program

1. Lecture classes on cardiothoracic surgery for final year undergraduate students (MBBS)
2. Diploma in perfusion technology (DPFT) -2 students admitted every year.
3. “Post basic diploma in cardiothoracic nursing”-15 students admitted each year.
3. B.sc nursing are being trained regularly.
4. Diploma in Critical care technology students are trained in this department

PG Teaching Program

MS (general surgery) of this institution and DNB (general surgery) of District Hospitals are
being trained for 1 month for practical training in CTVS.

1. PhD program: a) A Prospective study off pump CABG vs on pump CABG operation & its early
follow up in a govt. medical college.
b) A study to assess complication to drug regimen and quality of life among
patients who have undergone myocardial revascularization attending cardiac OPD of
selected hospitals, Kolkata, West Bengal
2. Stem cell therapy in ischemic cardiomyopathy (ICMR project)
3. Genetic study in congenital heart disease under DBT Nidaan genetic diagnosis

I. Major Cardiothoracic Surgeries including valve replacement & repair, CABG, Simple and
complex congenital, major vascular and thoracic, VATS - - 434 operations in 2017
 
Total surgery – 909
II. Outpatient services – 4 (Four) days / wk (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)
and 1 (One) day Valve Clinic(Saturday)
III. Perfusion services – Most modern cardiopulmonary bypass – equipment with centrifugal
and must pump and inline venous haemocrit and saturation facility
IV. Transesophagul echocardiography during surgery
V. VATS facility
VI. Angiography facility during vascular surgery
