“A sound mind is in a sound body”. Here a sound body means a healthy body, free from diseases and a sound mind means a mind capable of good, positive and free thinking mind. In this fashion a healthy brain is essential for a healthy human being, a healthy library is an asset for promotion and advancement of health sciences in a health institution. The main purpose of Central Library of N.R.S. Medical College is to work as an important component to assist medical professionals in enhancing and updating their knowledge and skills, and to provide them information regarding new innovations, views, theories and latest treatment for better patient-care, medical education, and research work.

The Central Library came into existence around 1950 in the erstwhile Infectious Disease Word and after many location changes finally relocated to its current location in the 3rd floor of College Academy Building in the year 1990. Since the establishment it has been a major source of reference for the students and Faculties of this Medical College.

The reading rooms and the seating capacity of the library have been increased drastically as per the guideline of MCI for 250 UG intake per year. The centrally air conditioned reading area of the students has been separated into two segments with 250 seating capacity each. Separate reading rooms for Faculty members, Post Graduate and Paramedical students complements the rich learning experience. Additionally Central Library has well equipped computer lab with internet facility to assist in studying of students and faculties. It has enormous collection of books, various national and international journals with its current and back volumes, dissertation work of post graduate degree.
